Have you heard it said?

We at Fernvale Community Church are working our way through the Sermon on the Mount, which is found in Matthew chapters 5-7. We are learning that the words of our Lord Jesus Christ applied to yesterday and continue to touch the core of who we are as growing Christians today. One phrase that is repeated in the writings of Matthew is "You have heard it said". This phrase stirs a thought in me. Have we heard it said? Do we here it said? So often we may be busy and not even take the time to listen, but if we listen, is the message being spoken and shared?

Without question we need to study and listen to the teaching of Jesus. We need to apply His teachings to our lives. But maybe we should also be sharing what we learn and hear as the Holy Spirit teaches us. We are not simply to learn but we are also to be going about making disciples. We may find that others out and about are trying to listen - but that have not "heard it said".

I guess that is why we should be busy sharing the Good News - so that others may hear.
