Pastor's Message
Who is your friend?Recently Melanie and I were returning home from window-shopping one Sunday afternoon. Without thinking we were driving down the road and to our surprise ran out of gas. We quickly call a friend and without questions or comments, he was on his way to assist. There is a country song that has become popular lately that states, "You'll find out who your friends are." We will eventually all find out who our friends are but we hopefully will learn that the greatest friend of all is Jesus. Melanie and I will always remember the friend that helped us when we ran out of gas but we will also remember the friend that laid down his very life for us, Jesus. John 15: 13-14(a) puts it this way; "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends…" I guess the best way to put it is like the old hymn written by Joseph M. Scriven in 1855 to comfort his mother in Ireland: "What a friend we have in Jesus." Scriven was not given full credit for the hymn for some 30 years - but the most important thing was that he had a friend, just as you and I do... named Jesus Blessings my friends - July 2007 Message - May 2007 Message - April 2007 Message - March 2007 Message - February 2007 Message - December 2006 Message - November 2006 Message - October 2006 Message - September 2006 Message |
