Pastor's Message

"Do you want to save these changes?"

As you work with your computer you may read the above message and quickly respond "yes" or "no".

If you take the time to stop and look at yourself, you will notice changes. Do you want to save these changes? The answers may vary and the thoughts may cause a smile or even a tear, but I encourage you to remember II Corinthians 5:17, "… if any man/woman be in Christ, he/she is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

As I turn another year older in a few days, I find myself reflecting on the big "5" "0". Changes have taken place; do I want to save these changes? I must be honest there are some changes I do not like and do not want to "save". But then on the other hand there are some changes that are great and those I want to hold on to for dear life.

Example:

I do not want to "save" the knees that seem to be bending with just a little bit of difficulty and do not allow me to spend much time in a kneeling position. I want the old knees back.

I do want to save the "peace that passes all understanding", which is a result of spiritual growth that comes from a combination of "God Time" and "personal experiences."

Do you look at your own situation and want to save the changes? Maybe as a new creature in Christ, we should focus our attention on letting Christ change us and not worry too much about our image and status in the eyes of the world.

I think the changes Christ makes in us are far more important and useful then any changes we can make on our own. Maybe the computer programs should expand the question just a bit to read: " Which changes do you want to save, yours or God's?

Blessings
Gene
